Beneath the outer, true character resides.
Faith Naked models have the very soul of the guitar exposed for all to hear and experience. Each instrument is beautiful in its simplicity and unadorned with cosmetic additions, and as such, it is more accessible to players of all levels.
Another of the 3 original Faith body shapes launched in the winter of 2002, the Mercury parlour continues to amaze with its remarkably strident tone that belies its smaller size. Although visually smaller than most others, the body still retains a reasonable depth and has the bridge positioned a little lower than usual too. The neck also joins the body at the 12thfret – rather than the 14th for most regular acoustic guitars – so the string tension is comparatively low resulting in a very easy-playing character.
The top of the Naked Mercury is Engelmann Spruce and the back and sides are Indonesian Mahogany, both of which are all-solid, of course, and they both have a soft satin finish too. The satin finish is made with a small number of thin layers of lacquer, allowing for a faster and more cost-effective completion compared to a glossy finish. The crucial advantage lies in the satin finish's ability to let the all-solid tonewood move and resonate more freely, unrestricted by lots of lacquer. This freedom of movement results in a lively, exciting, and continuously evolving tone with the body proudly showcasing the marks of every musical encounter.
The Spruce and Mahogany combo has long been a default acoustic guitar recipe, and for good reason too. The sonic and visual brightness of the Spruce is tamed a little by the more mellow, softwood tones of the mahogany. True to its ‘Naked’ name, all the woods used are left to show their original colours and grain patterns.
Each Naked model also has a striped Ebony fingerboard, bridge and bridge pins.
Your new Faith Naked will be supplied with a padded gigbag complete with handles, backstraps and an accessory pocket too. And, whenever your gigging schedule demands it, you can upgrade your gigbag to a hardcase too.
