‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ is the full title of David Bowie’s fifth studio album. It was created as a concept album and rock opera around the main character, Ziggy Stardust, who is sent to earth as a saviour. It was released in June 1972 and has influences from contemporaries such as Lou Reed, Marc Bolan and Iggy Pop. The music is a period defining mix of glam rock and proto-punk, and the strength of the album along with a performance of the single ‘Starman’ on Top of The Pops propelled Bowie to real stardom.
This is the 2022 50th Anniversary Half Speed Remastered edition, and is pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl.
