🔧 Guitar Setups, Repairs & Services

(Note: We do not repair broken necks or spray guitars)

🎯 What is a Guitar Setup?

A proper guitar setup ensures your instrument is tailored to your playing style. It improves playability, tone, and overall performance—whether your guitar is brand new or well-played over the years.

Factory-built guitars often lack the detailed attention required for optimal play. A professional setup can fix factory oversights and wear from use, including mechanical and electronic issues.

🔌 Amplifier Servicing

Price - £70

During all repairs and/or service work the electronics engineer performs the following tasks:

Diagnostic Work:

  • Troubleshoots issues by testing components with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
  • Traces signal paths to identify where problems occur (input, preamp, power amp, or output stages)
  • Checks for common failures like blown fuses, failed capacitors, failed or 'out-of-tolerance' resistors or damaged valves, transistors and integrated circuits

Repair and Maintenance:

  • Replaces faulty components such as resistors, capacitors, valves, transformers, or integrated circuits
  • Re-solders cold or broken solder joints on circuit boards
  • Cleans potentiometers (volume/tone controls) and switches (replacement if worn)
  • Tests and adjusts bias settings for valves, transistors or integrated circuits
  • Replaces aging electrolytic capacitors that can cause hum or reduced performance

Safety Checks:

  • Ensures proper grounding to prevent electric shock
  • Verifies that high-voltage sections are safely isolated
  • Checks power supply voltages and current draw
  • Inspects for overheating components or fire hazards

Final Testing:

  • Tests the amp with various input signals and loads
  • Verifies proper frequency response and gain
  • Ensures no unwanted noise, hum, or distortion
  • Confirms all controls and switches function correctly
  • All amps are PAT tested before return to customer
