Released in July 2002, this is the group’s eighth studio album. It contains the five singles ‘By The Way’, ‘The Zephyr Song’,’Can’t Stop’, ‘Dosed’, and ‘Universally Speaking’. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album has sold over 8 million copies. Most of the songs’ melodies, backing vocals, bass lines and guitar progressions were written by John Fruscante, and many see him as having given their sound a more warm, understated feel on this album.
